Rare Find

Frank Devine

'70 Cadillac Fleetwood Wagon

I was scouring a collector car swap meet in Santa Maria, California when I was stopped dead in my tracks by an astonishing find. It was a well kept 1970 Cadillac 9 passenger station wagon. That's right, I said a wagon! One of only eleven (11) built; with only 5 survivors known to exist. The owner, Tony Orefice, was gracious enough to grant me a photo session and provide detailed information about the car. Tony has been a avid collector for 34 years and has a stable of rare muscle cars. He is a talented and accomplished architect. recently retired, much of his leisure time is spent restoring his beautiful cars.

The 70's Fleetwood Wagon is un-restored but in very good condition. The car was sold new by McNevin Cadillac in Berkeley, California to Owen M. Owens, a resident of Orinda, California. The car was sold ten years later to Robert Leddy of Arroyo Grande, California. And it only had 51,316 miles on it. Tony is the third owner and bought the car 5 years ago. Amazingly the car has 52,650 miles on it and purrs like a kitten. The 472 cubic inch, 375 horsepower engine is unmodified and complete. Loaded with rare desirable optional equipment. The option list includes Sunroof, Tilt-Steering Wheel, Power Seats, Power Windows, Tinted Glass, Air Conditioning, Dual Side Mirrors, Factory AM-FM 8-Track Player, Leather Seats and a Roof Rack.

It gets 11 miles per gallon on he highway. Tony says it drives as quite and nice as any luxury model new car available today. Tony has had 7 passengers comfortably seated with room to spare since the wagon will accommodate 9 by design. Several trips to Los Angles and back from his home in Arroyo Grande were very pleasant driving. experience.

One memorable experience he had was at a car show in Los Angles. People were walking past a beautiful restored 1951 Cadillac Convertible with little or no interest, just to gather and gawk at his extremely unique un-restored Fleetwood Wagon.

This car is currently for sale if your interested. You may contact Tony Orefice by phone at 805-481-0216. Please call before 8:00 p.m. PST.
