The Baywood Cruisers

What would you say if someone told you that having an old classic car, motorcycle or anything weird made you a Baywood Cruisers Club member? Well, that’s not all my friend. The Baywood Cruisers don’t ever believe in rules, “we don’t need no stink’n rules”. That’s right, no rules, no dues, no President or membership requirements; just bring whatever and have fun. They meet at Coffee N’ Things Espresso Café in Los Osos/Baywood Park, California, every Saturday afternoon between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Anyone who brings an old classic is treated to a Free Coffee from the Coffee N’ Things Espresso Café.

There could be almost any number of classic cars, motorcycles, bicycles, scooters or rare parts show up. However, no one knows for sure since every Saturday afternoon cruise has a different attendance record from none to standing room only.

These folks really appreciate getting together, showing off their beautiful classics and telling stories about the one that got away. You too can be there “Sittin’ on the dock of the Bay” enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee and checking out the great rides. I have seen some extremely rare cars like a very early 1900’s Studebaker Open Air Touring car plus vintage motor bikes to muscle bound 60’s cars. In fact, on one occasion someone brought an old car part and had people try to guess what the heck it was.

Los Osos means “Bear” so the Baywood Cruisers of Los Osos/Baywood Park, California live up to that name each Saturday afternoon. They come from all over the area, like hibernating bears, seeking out food after a long winters sleep. Every classic is either spotlessly clean or just “as is” with torn upholstery, chipped paint and lots of character.

Los Osos/Baywood Park is a small coastal community just 5 miles south of Morro Bay, California and is easily accessible from highway 1 or 101. Once there, the surrounding community displays a vast amount of scenery to see and enjoy. For enjoyment you can kayak, boat, fish, swim, hike, cycle, tour the surrounding countryside or visit local state parks. It has great little hide-a-way restaurants, gift shops, markets and motels which you'll discover while driving the sleepy little streets dotted with beautiful pine trees.

The Baywood Cruisers really know how to enjoy the beautiful, simple way of life; we all should be so fortunate. Stop by sometime and see what you have been missing. The friendships are free.
